Winnie’s Official Guide to First Time Cafe Patrons

Hello hello! It’s your favorite premium valentine maid Winnie here! Or maybe I’m not your favorite, but I hope I’m at least in your top 3. I’ve been with the Heart Strings Maid Cafe since day 1 – and everyday I get to do my favorite activity of all time: genuine whole-grade smile production! Nothing makes my heart dance more than knowing I’ve made a patrons day a little more cheerful and magical.

But there’s so many people out there who have never tried the cafe yet! Are you scared? I hope not – although sometimes cute maids make me nervous too. If you’ve never been to a maid cafe don’t worry, I got you covered! Here’s a quick list of tips for first time attendees that will make your experience the best it can be.

Tip 1: Arrive early!
You ever seen those really long lines for concerts where people camp outside in tents and chairs waiting to get inside. Well good news – maid cafe lines are never as insane as that…but they do get full really quickly. If you wanna snag a spot and reservations aren’t available – be sure to get to each session about 15 minutes ahead of time. The earlier you get there the more likely you are to pick your maid or butler of choice or have your larger party sit together.

Tip 2: Treat Yourself!
At the cafe you’ll usually be served a drink and dessert – so don’t expect a big meal. This is the perfect stop for snack time and an extra burst of energy. You’ll want to prepare yourself for a lot of sugar (aka the most magical ingredient on the planet). It’s usually best to visit the cafe in the mid afternoon when you need a pick me up to help you burst through the final sprint of con activities but this is also our busiest time. Sometimes I treat myself to a love potion right before I zip through dealers hall.

Tip 3: Remember – you are royalty!
At a maid cafe, the customer isn’t always right, they’re KING! Or queen! Or Royal Patron! Or idk whatever else you want to consider yourself (Duke sounds pretty cool!). Many customers aren’t sure what this means, or what kind of extra special requests they can make. The best way I can explain is that a maid tells you what we do and the royal patron can tell us HOW. Do you need extra creamer and sugar? You got it boss! Would you like someone to fan off your extra hot coffee before you drink it? You bet! Do you need an extra chair for your newly purchased plushie? I’m on it! Maids and butlers will always do our best to serve you: just remember the golden rule – the only way to have fun is if everyone is smiling so please be considerate of patrons and staff when making requests.

Tip 4: Embrace the Weird!
Yeah that’s right, I said it. It’s time to get crazy, silly, weird, and most importantly CRINGE! You didn’t come here just to get a soda and a cookie? Otherwise you could go to any old restaurant. You came to a maid cafe because you wanted to be taken away to a make believe world full of magic, smiles and MAIDS! The only way we’re really able to make your experience amazing is if you believe (aka play along!) Will you look a little silly when you make heart shaped hands and say the magic spell? Not if everyone else is doing it. The cafe is a safe space to escape from the boring regular dining experience. Even if you’re a little shy, don’t worry. I’ll always be the first to try something silly and different. So if you want to try I’ll be right by your side.

Tip 5: Take LOTS of photos.
Nothing is quite as Instagram worthy as a maid cafe. Our desserts and drinks were made to be photographed. Each table is decorated especially by your maid or butler and often hide secrets inside. Share your art creations or games you play. Take selfies with your maid at the selfie station. Record your favorite dances. And if you’re feeling sentimental you can take a souvenir polaroid (aka cheki) that will be personalized and decorated just for you. I love taking all sorts of silly photos with guests – especially posing with big weapon props. Although they usually get taken away from me after I run around the cafe with them….huh…

Well that’s all I got for now. If you’ve got more questions post them below! Maybe Maid Emma will let me do a part two! But for now I’m going to go out to my garden and check on my rose bushes. Hugs, kisses and extra wishes! – Winnie
